OUR MINISTRIES

We believe that every member is a minister. While not all are called to preach or teach scripture, every believer possesses gifts and skills that are useful to the Body of Christ. Our life development process is designed to help each believer discover their unique crafts and calling.

MEMBERSHIP CLASSES

We have 4 levels of membership classes which serve to accomodate every member according to his/her level of understanding and maturity:

1. LIGHT 1.0 (Membership Covenant)

2. LIGHT 2.0 (Maturity Covenant)

3. SALT 3.0 (Ministry Covenant)

4. SALT 4.0 (Missions Covenant)

LIGHT stands for "Learning to Imitate God's Hands Traning"

SALT stands for "Stanaford Advanced Leadership Training"

BIBLE STUDY

Our two pastors alternate teaching Bible Study each Wednesday from 6:45 p.m. -- 8:15 p.m. At the same time, Youth Bible class is offered and led by Keisha Hamby, Jennifer Penn, Toni Lawson, and Annette Hopkins.

SUNDAY SCHOOL/KID'S CHURCH

Pastor Wallington teaches Adult Sunday School and Lady Keisha Hamby teaches Youth Sunday school each Sunday from 10:00 a.m. -- 10:45 a.m. Each Sunday during the 11 a.m. sermon, children's church is offered for your kids in the dining hall while you enjoy the Word of God.

YOUTH SUNDAY

Every 3rd Sunday morning is Youth Sunday with our teenagers in charge. The young people MC and conduct the service and perform choice talent displays and artistic expressions. Pre-teens also sing choir songs and give presentations. Pastor Hamby preaches youth-oriented messages which target teen issues of the day.

MUSIC

Lady Keisha Hamby is our Minister of Music and Choir Director. Mt Vernon worships the LORD through a balance of contemporary gospel and traditional hymn ensemble. We have adult, youth, and children's choir, along with praise dances and poetry segments.

WAR ROOM

Sister April Clark hosts a monthly "War Room" ministry, which is an informal women's meeting designed to discuss and tackle everyday issues. Through a combination of prayer, counseling, and open discussion, both members and non-members are invited to share and build together. Meeting dates and times are announced each month.

MANCAVE MEETING

T-Shirts and jeans for men only. Pastor Wallington leads an informal gathering where men discuss issues and struggles that we face. We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11am.
